c7000 - Bridge mode

Brief backstory:
We recently moved, and when we transferred our Internet service (through Spectrum), they offered their Triple Play deal for TV, Phone, & Internet (we don't need the phone, but it was actually cheaper to bundle it than get TV & Internet seperately). When the tech arrived at our new place to install it, I told him I had my own router. He said it wasn't compatible because we required a specific device for the phone service. That may be true, because my router doesn't have a dedicated WAN/Internet port. But regardless, I'm now left with a $300 router I can't do anything with.

My issue:
I wanted to see if I could get some use out of my router (Nighthawk C7000) by putting it in bmBridge Mode and connecting my consoles to it and communicating with the other router (Askey RAC2V1K). I was able to connect and switch to Bridge Mode, but I can't find any settings for having it communicate with the other router.

Some of what I've read leads me to believe my device doesn't support what I want. But if that's the case, why even have the option to put it in Bridge at all? I'm hoping someone here can give me some options before trying to work with Spectrum support.

I suspect that you really need to get the C7000 into access point mode. Or put the Askey RAC2V1K into bridge mode.

Unlike most modem/routers, Netgear does not provide detailed instructions on how to achieve either of these. That may mean that it won't work.

As you say, no WAN port on the C7000, which is a giveaway.

By the way, you have posted your message in the section of this community given over to

   If you want to use a Cxxxx, which lacks a WAN/Internet Ethernet port,
as a normal router, then you may be out of luck.

   To make it a modem-only (not a router-only)?

That's written for a Netgear C6300, but the steps are about the same for
any other router (any make/model) which lacks a one-step WAP option.

C7000 can be put into "bridge mode". Note that Bridge mode in DOCSIS gateways mean modem-only mode. It is not a "AP mode".

Many folks use Bridge mode as generic term to mean many different things.

You got carried away with Spectrum sales talk to force you into getting voice which makes you rent their modem and Router.

They will charge 4.99 or 9.99 (not sure of exact price) for Wi-Fi router rental.

That thought also crossed my mind.

I would be tempted to see if the C7000 does the job. If so, cancel the rented box.

spectrum unfortunately does not qualify 3rd party Voice modems (eMTA).

Comcast does. We have CM500V and C7100V for that purpose so that you dont have rent Comcast double-play boxes.
