D7000 readycloud registration failed
I have:
reset my password to just letters & numbers
Factory reset me router ( a few times)
Tried a different readycloud account
Installed a lower version of the firmware ( i tried a few going as low as 1.0.1.64)
And none of them worked. I did notice a flash before i get the failed message and when i use a screen recorder i see that the flash is a notification popping up telling me the readycloud is already set up with my email (I've never registered it before I've only had the router a week).
Any advice would be greatly appreciated
P.s. the account it shows is my second account i set up to try so its never had a different password.

Re: D7000 readycloud registration failed
Hi,
I'm encountering the same issue with an R8000.
Support tells me the reason is that my internet provider gives me an internet port with public IP address (starting with 37.25.xxx.xxx)
Haven't solved the issue yet as I did not get my internet provider to change this to a private IP address.
However, if you also have a public IP address on your internet port we might have identified what the problem is!
(on my R8000's interface it's in the advanced home menu / internet port / IP address)
Kindly let me know.
I will let you know on my side if I get my internet provider to change this IP address to private and if it worked...

Re: D7000 readycloud registration failed
I don't use ReadyCLOUD, and I know approximately nothing about
ReadyCLOUD, but ...

That makes _no_ sense to me.

I wouldn't try. I would expect that to cause more problems than it
could possibly solve (that is, none). A significant fraction of the
problems reported here involve exactly such problems (typically caused
by cascading multiple routers).
If you want a quick test of that, then you could add a (NAT) router
between your ISP connection (modem, ONT, ...) and your R8000.

Please do. I'd be amazed.

Re: D7000 readycloud registration failed
Thanks. for your prompt response. I guess you are much more of an expert than I am, and sorry my input didn't help you!
Thanks to Netgear support for nothing! I'll follow your advice instead... Seems indeed the public IP address has nothing to do with this...
In the meanwhile I've succeded in accessing my USB drive remotely setting up an FTP server. Works fine and all I needed actually.
So I guess I'll just quit losing time hopelessly trying to register to Readycloud...
Good luck to you nontheless!

ReadyCLOUD can be very useful. But, as you have discovered, it is also a pain to set up.
I use it daily to move files between two different Netgear routers in different Internet accounts. The FTP option doesn't work in all circumstances but is probably the best option if you can get it to work.

Re: D7000 readycloud registration failed
Also I do not cascade multiple routers, I actually plugged the ISP connection directly into my R8000, cloning the original box's mac address...

I made no such accusation. But, as I _did_ say, if you _wanted_ a
private address on your R8000 (WAN/Internet interface), then adding an
intermediate NAT router would do that. Not what I'd call a good idea,
however.

Maybe the same "symptoms", but possibly not the same cause.
The D7000 is a modem/router. The R8000 is a router. If nothing else, their firmware will differ.
They require different setup regimes. In these circumstances, if you want other people, including Netgear's moderators, to notice your message you would do better to start a new conversation, and do it in the appropriate place for your hardware.

Re: D7000 readycloud registration failed
yep, thanks, will try to manage without a private iP address, to avoid creating more trouble than solving as you suggest...
