DM200 won't connect to internet

Just bought the DM200 from Best Buy yesterday, I tried all night to get it to work and in the morning called my ISP (CenturyLink) and Netgear. The power light is solid green and every time no mater what I change the DSL light is blinking amber. I know my internet is working, because I just plug in my old modem and it works just fine, if a little slow. I thought it might have just been a defect and went back to get it replaced with a new one, and I'm still getting the same issue. I've done everything the netgear employee told me to try (mostly power cycling it twice, but also a couple things I haven't tried). Figure it's about time I ask the community if they know the solution. Had to with my last computer-related issue.

   Ok.

The non-psychics in your audience have no idea how your old
(unspecified) modem was configured, nor how your new modem has been
configured.  For a typical DSL connection, there is a set of parameters
which must be set correctly, beyond simply the user name and password.
You have, apparently, not set all yours correctly in the new modem.

Re: DM200 won't connect to internet

I did what it said in the quick start guide that came in the box in the order it told me to, as well as re-did it when I was on the phone with the netgear employee. I assumed anyone that would know the answer would know what that entails.

I assumed that anyone who had trouble with the Quick Start guide
would advance to the User Manual, which offers more detailed
instructions.  I guess that we're both disappointed.

As you may recall, I wasn't there when you did that, so, with my weak
psychic powers, I don't know what you were told or what you did.

If the automatic configuration procedure failed, then you might need
to configure the thing manually, as described in the User Manual,
starting on page 29, "Manually Set Up an ADSL Internet Connection".
Presumably, the settings of the old (still unspecified) modem could be
used as a guide for this.

Re: DM200 won't connect to internet

I did look in the user manual, nice assumption though. I'm unable to get the the login page the user manual is telling me I should be at. It instead redirects me to www.routerlogin.net/BRS_index.htm, where I am greeted with:

Configuring the Internet Connection

You are not yet connected to the Internet.

Do you want NETGEAR genie to help?

Yes. I want NETGEAR genie to determine the appropriate settings for my environment and configure my router automatically.
No. I want to manually enter configuration settings using the NETGEAR genie wizard.
Saved router settings. I want to load saved router configuration settings.

Where I select ASDL and Yes. I want NETGEAR genie to determine the appropriate settings for my environment and configure my router automatically.

Click next, and this:

ADSL/VDSL is not ready for connection. Please make sure you don’t have a bonded ADSL/VDSL line.

The device is ready for access, but the ADSL/VDSL is not ready for connection. It takes 1-2 mins after you plug the ADSL/VDSL line into the device RJ11 port.

The ADSL/VDSL LED will turn on if device is ready ADSL/VDSL connection wizard. (note: it is not it Power LED)

After you have checked the DSL/Ethernet cable, click Try again.

If you have installation problems, click here to send the setup log to the NETGEAR support team.

I'd say that you've demonstrated pretty well that the automatic
configuration procedure does not work for you.

Re: DM200 won't connect to internet

the first thing under manually set up an adsl connection is telling me how to log in to set it up myself, which it will not let me do, because it redirects me to something else.

I have already told you this.

   What I saw was:

I didn't see where you tried "No".  Did I miss something?

Thanks DarrenM.

I'm disappointed that there is no way to downvote Antinode for being such a jerk during this thread.

Re: DM200 won't connect to internet

Were you able to figure out the issue?  I am having the same problem.  I have confirmed that I have fiber optics with the Internet provider.  Thanks!
