Netgear D7000
Since updating the firmware on my D7000, I've found that the internet connection keeps dropping every few hours. I've tried a full factory reset but that hasn't helped.
If you could help it would be greatly appreciated.

Re: Netgear D7000
Go through the process described in the manual:
D7000 | Product | Support | NETGEAR
See page 220.
Get the firmware from the same place. Unzip it. The file should also contain instructions.

Re: Netgear D7000
What didn't work. You flashed and it still drops the Internet? Or you couldn't flash?

Would downgrading the firmware be such a bad idea?
Depends on whether you believe the scaremongers who forecast the end of the world if users don't block the theoretical security holes that the latest firmware is supposed to plug.

I've tried the latest upgrade and then tried downgrading it and still it's cuttting out every couple of days. Any ideas anyone?

From which version to which version? (And "latest" is not a reliable
description.)

Ignoring "the latest", to which version(s) did you fall back?

After each firmware installation?
Are you using any optional features, like USB-connected storage?
I've been using V1.0.1.50_1.0.1 for a while (up from V1.0.1.48_1.0.1)
without seeing such problems, so I know nothing, but I tend to shun
exotic features.

Security holes which can't be exploited are not security holes.
Security holes which can be exploited are not "theoretical". Most real
security holes don't involve the end of the world, only the end of your
Internet access, or of your control over your router, or of the security
of the data stored on your networked devices. But addition of new bugs
in new firmware releases seems to be a Netgear policy. (Like vacuous
"Release Notes".)

Re: Netgear D7000
Thanks.
I did originally upgrade to V1.0.1.48_1.0.1 when I first had problems, then I installed V1.0.1.50_1.0.1 and had the same issues. I've not done a factory reset and am using V1.0.1.44_1.0.1.
I'll see how I get on with that before doing anything else.
Many thanks,
Dave

Re: Netgear D7000
We haven't really gone into what you mean when you say "the internet connection keeps dropping every few hours".
You later say "every couple of days", does that mean it is getting better?
For a start, the footer on your first message refers to the R7000 but your text says D7000. Which is it, router or modem?
What do the lights on the thing look like when you lose the internet?
Is this all internet access or just the wifi bit?
In one message you say "I've not done a factory reset". If you have any problems after installing new firmware you really need to do that reset.

Re: Netgear D7000
Hi There,
Sorry for the massively slow reply.
I'm using a D7000 running v1.0.1.54. I took your advice and ran a full factory reset and then upgraded the firmware but I'm still facing the same problems in that the internet drops, at least, once a day. Attached are photos displaying how genie appears when the internet drops, I've also attached a picture of the router itself when the internet drops.
Many thanks,
Dave
