ReadyNAS 214 after reboot 'Remove inactive volumes to use the disk #1.2

Hello

I have a problem with my ReadyNAS 214 it has 3 2TB WD Red HDD in it running RAID5. I haven't used it for a year and i rebooted it yesterday and after that i got the error message 'Remove inactive volumes to use the disk #1.2'

when i look at Volumes i see 2 data volumes - i just had one running at RAID5.

i messaged support and they told me to turn off the raid and remove all disks and put them in again. Turn it on again and update the firmware to the latest version. I did that but without any change. I still get the error message.

As my NAS is out of support they told me to search for help in the forum.
I hope anyone could help me. I need to access a share with about 35.000 Canon Raw Images on it.

kind regards

 tom

Not the best advice, and hopefully did no harm.

Download the full log zip from the web ui.

If you'd like I can take a look at the zip.  If you want to proceed with that, then put it zip in cloud storage and send me a download link via private message (PM).  Send a PM using the envelope link in the upper right of the forum page.  Make sure the link permissions allow anyone with the link to download.

FYI, dropbox, google drive, icloud, onedrive all work (as do several others).

Re: ReadyNAS 214 after reboot 'Remove inactive volumes to use the disk #1.2

The reason you are seeing two volumes is that the OS can't figure out how to concatenate all the drives into one.  So, it see's two data volumes.  But since there cannot be two volumes with the same name, it is calling one data-0 (which is the name of the MDADM RAID on which the BTRFS volume resides)  Both of these contain your data, though fractured such that you can't get to it.  So, whatever you do, don't think that destroying one will help.  That would actually make recovery impossible, which @StephenB hopefully can help you with once he looks at your logs.
