Device Manager shows white background & stupid counts

App ver 2.23.0.2673
Firmware v 1.0.3.32
Normal black background now replaced by white screen with no band groupings. Device count may be accurate or may be 0, -1, etc.
Initially noticed Feb 5, 2023.
Occurs on numerous devices around the house.
What's up folks...truly a step backwards. I left Netgear in the later 2010s because of stupid interface behaviors and now they're back?

Re: Device Manager shows white background & stupid counts

What Netgear device are we talking about here?

The firmware version is not much help as it could apply to various devices.

And which app is this? iOS? Android?

That's not what I see on my Android, same version, another Samsung.

Could it be a setting on your Samsung device? I can't see anything app specific.

Re: Device Manager shows white background & stupid counts

Thanks for the quick reply.

The  display you present is the displayed characteristics my devices showed from Aug 2022 thru approx Feb 5, 2023.

I currently get the white model on all the devices listed in the thread...Samsung phones & tablets, iPad, Windows 11 Pros.

Re: Device Manager shows white background & stupid counts

Seems that for the MK series systems, this is by default with a White theme for the Device Manager. I see same thing on my MK series system as well on Android. If I change over to a non MK system, I have a XR700 online on a separate line, the device manager display is dark themed.

I'll pass this on to NG and see what there intended design is going to be for the MK system or if this is just a bug.

Not here.

I have a mix. No white theme on MK or R7XXX. That's "Connected Locally".

Re: Device Manager shows white background & stupid counts

Ok, I'm remote thru Anywhere Access. Possible local could effect this. You see any different with using AA?

Ya something on my iphone here at work thru AA. I'll check local when I get home soon.

@michaelkenward I posted something regarding your MK system. Please take a look there. 😉

Thank you Sir.

Re: Device Manager shows white background & stupid counts

Anywhere Access & Connected Locally both show the White Blight...whether Samsung Galaxy phones, iPad tablet, etc.

Home & Guest SSIDs sameo-sameo.

I'm a solid Democrat, CRT isn't a factor in my house.

Thanks again for your active involvement folks.

After 40+ yrs of interface design I've simply lost the love/quest.

Re: Device Manager shows white background & stupid counts

Guess what. My attached devices have just gone negative on me. While background.

I did nothing to provoke this invasion of my Android devices.

I blame you lot.

I have also seen some freaky behaviour with Anywhere Access, but that is for another conversation.

Re: Device Manager shows white background & stupid counts

Testing local or AA yesterday didn't show any differences. Both showed WHITE.

Question, has Smart Parental Controls been enabled or ever been enabled with in the NH app?

Re: Device Manager shows white background & stupid counts

Has a factory reset and setup from scratch been performed since last FW update? A complete pull of the power adapters for a period of time after the factory reset then walk thru the setup wizard and setup from scratch with a wired PC and web browser. Don't set it up using the NH app. After the MR is setup, then log in to the NH app and check the device manager.

Re: Device Manager shows white background & stupid counts

So here's the deal:

"All Nighthawk routers support SPC have the same behavior on the Nighthawk APP.

Please be notice, only the device manager feature has white scheme if the FW supports SPC feature, other pages remain black scheme.
Support means feature support, it is not the same as enable or disable. If you can do enable or disable which means the feature is supported. If there is not such feature support, you can't do any enable or disable at all."

So basically, the MK systems all have the SPC support with in the FW. Seems that regardless if it's used or not, the Device Manager screen will have a WHITE background. No reason was given for this and no idea why. I presume this may come from the SPC team and code and there side of the code is set for white. Possibly for user viewability and accessibility reasons. I don't know for sure.

Not a bug. 😉

Re: Device Manager shows white background & stupid counts

So if I'm understanding things properly I'm 6 months back-in-the-saddle with NetGear and I've just recently lost the dark theme and stuck in the mire of white (color is one thing, the loss of groupings, on/off switches etc is another).

Bummer plus.
Again thnx so much for the quick responses folks.
