Re: Random "hello test" notification from nighthawk app

Got the same hello test on my androud phone as reported by others. My Nighthawk app was updated late last night and the message associated with the message talked about location detection. I assume the message is related to the new app version 2.2.7.453

Well it took about 5 minutes but the app started on its own!

Hmmm...sounds like a very good reason to not use it.  I wonder if the original invitation was written in Cyrrilic script....

Might be worth tweeting @netgear and linking to these threads since they apparently don't check them.

Re: Random "hello test" notification from nighthawk app

As it seems to be related to the Nighthawk app, and not the router itself (of course, I'm just guessing), I added a comment to the Google Play page for this app.  I see that NetGear responds there, so maybe they will see that.

Here's a screenshot of the response. I'm paranoid. Sorry new user.

The text of the screenshot above that matters, in case you don't want to open the image:

"NETGEAR Inc. October 4, 2018:  We are aware of the test notifications that we mistakenly sent out this morning to some of our customers.  These were not intentional, and we apologize for any inconvenience."

Thanks for posting.  Mystery solved.  The icons disappeared off my phone.

A round of applause by the group to the group for being on this.
