2.4 GHz and 5 GHz WiFi channel width configuration
I have been trying to figure out if the WiFi channel width is user configurable for the R7000 (Nighthawk AC1900) in either the 2.4 GHz or 5 GHz bands. I can see where and how to configure the router to use a specific channel number for each of the 2 bands, but not how to specify / configure the channel bandwidth used. Use a frequency scanner indicates that the bandwidth of my 2.4 GHz signal is 20 MHz, and my 5.0 GHz signal is 80 MHz. I would like to configure my 5.0 GHz WiFI to use a 40 MHz channel width.

Log into the routers web page at 192.168.1.1 with a PC and web browser to change channels or set channel width on 2.4Ghz. The 2.4Ghz frequency can only be changed for channel width.

So, in reviewing the Wireless Setup page thru the web browser interface a little more closely I discover that I can effectively change the channel width use for both the 2.4 GHz and the 5 GHz radios/bands. The "Mode:" field for each Wireless Network (Band) has a configurable setting.
For 2.4 GHz band - options allowed: Up to 54 Mbps, Up to 289 Mbps, Up to 600 Mbps.
For 5 GHz band - options allowed: Up to 289 Mbps, Up to 600 Mbps, Up to 1300 Mbps.
The allowed channel width use for each band is set based on the max data rate selected for each. That is what I am observing.
Try using those setting for your needs.
