6700v3

The other day the signal dropped on this for 45 minutes straight. Every 3 minutes it would reconnect and then within 3 minutes drop again. Re booted the router, rebooted the modem, firmware updated, etc. researching this net gear suggested to name the access points the same (as opposed to ____2.4g + _____5g). So, trying to do this, the Nighthawk app will not allow me to set the names the same. What can I do here? How can I keep this from dropping as it did before?

Re: 6700v3

What Firmware version is currently loaded?
What is the Mfr and model# of the Internet Service Providers modem/ONT the NG router is connected too?
Be sure your using a good quality LAN cable between the modem and router. CAT6 is recommended.

What channels are you using? Auto? Try Auto and 48 on 5Ghz. Or try setting manual channel 1, 6 or 11 on 2.4Ghz and 40 to 48 channel on 5Ghz.
Any Wifi Neighbors near by? If so, how many?

Has a power off for 1 minute then back ON with the ISP modem and router been performed since last update?
Be sure to restart your network in this sequence:
Turn off and unplug modem.
Turn off router and computers.
Plug in and turn on modem. Wait 2 minutes for it to connect.
Turn on the router and wait 2 minutes for it to connect.
Turn on computers and rest of network.

Has a factory reset and setup from scratch been performed since last FW update? A complete pull of the power adapters for a period of time after the factory reset then walk thru the setup wizard and setup from scratch. Recommend setting the default DHCP IP address pool range to the following after applying and a factory reset: 192.168.#.100 to 192.168.#.200.

Re: 6700v3

Firmware: 1.0.4.128_10.0.104
Modem: net gear cm1000v2
Cable is Cat5e
I am using the Nighthawk app which doesn’t really give me the opportunity, that I have found, to change the channels for each access point. There are plenty of other Wi-Fi signals around. Maybe seven?
I have not done a factory reset, I’m really hoping to not have to set up our entire Wi-Fi again.

Re: 6700v3

You'll need to log into the routers web page to make changes to wifi channels here.

Last resort would be to factory reset and setup from scratch using a wired PC and web browser.

Re: 6700v3

Thanks. I’ll check it out. So the information that I read from Netgear about naming the two channels, the same does not need to happen?

Re: 6700v3

Set the channels to 48 on 5g and 6 on 2.4g - seemed to work. Haven't had any issues yet! I guess if I do I'll switch the channels again for each. Had to go through the browser log in for this as the nighthawk app is useless for this.

Re: 6700v3

Glad you got it working. Be sure to save off a back up configuration to file for safe keeping. Saves time if a reset is needed.
