Arris surboard SBG6700-AC and Netgear NightHawk r6700v2

I'm having issues getting my modem(sbg6700-ac) to send a signal over to my NightHawk r6700 v2 router.  I've restarted the modem several times and no luck. I've restarted the router while restarting the modem at the same time and no luck. The internet light thats next to the power indicator stays red/oragne indicating no signal. Do I need to change any settings on the modem to make it work properly. The modem is a modem/router combo.

Re: Arris surboard SBG6700-AC and Netgear NightHawk r6700v2

I wanted solution 1 and I finally found the informatin that helped me. I'll provide the links in order inwhich they need to be performed.

Arris SBG6700-AC(modem/router combo)

This article explains how to configure the modem/router to modem only. Before I started I disconnected the coax cable and then reset the modem using the small white reset button on the back of the unit.(Press and hold until the lights turn off.)                                                        Note: Once the new router is installed I had to log back into this modem to disable the wireless functions.

After I followed the instructions in the article I reconnected the coax cable and connected the new wireless router to the modem while it was rebooting.

Netgear NightHawk r6700v2 or AC1750 smart wifi router.

Next, I connected an ethernet cable from one of the ports on the back to my computer to do the next step.

After this step was completed I was setup and ready to go..I currently have one issue. I can not log back into the Nighthawk router to make any changes if need be. I followed the steps in the article and have tried different url's as described in the article, but havan't been able to get access to the settings again. But I will get it figured out....I hope this helps...

You probably need to change the settings on something.

> The modem is a modem/router combo.

Yes, it is, and cascading multiple routers can cause multiple
problems.

The two usual (one-router) options would be: 1. Configure your
SBG6700AC modem+router as a modem-only, and use the R6700v2 as a
full-function router, or: 2. Configure the R6700v2 as a wireless access
point.

If you're not using the wireless-router functions of the SBG6700AC,
then Option 1 should work.  If you're using the R6700v2 to get better
wireless coverage, and you don't really care about its router functions,
then Option 2 would probably make more sense.

If you choose Option 2, then there are some relevant notes about WAP
configuration in this thread:

   Ok.

   That's Option 1 AND Option 2, not Option 1 (exclusive-)OR Option 2.
You seem to be working too hard.

> [...] I can not log back into the Nighthawk router to make any changes

That's because an R6700v2, when configured as a WAP, does not use its
usual LAN IP address(es).

If you really did configure your SBG6700AC modem+router as a
modem-only ("bridge" mode), then you should probably reset your R6700v2
(which should return it to full-function-router mode), and start again.

> [...] But I will get it figured out....

   Not that way.

   I don't think so.
