Can not login to netgear R7000 router after factory reset. All I get is connecting
and after 10 minute I hit cancel and it goes to Router Password Recovery. I put in serial # of router and the the continue button is greyed out!
I would like to change the password from the default for security reasons!
Is there a work around for this problem.
I can not believe Netgear has not corrected this problem before now. Not a very good selling point for Netgear Routers!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Re: Can not login to netgear R7000 router after factory reset
Use defaults on router label after a factory default reset. Locate a manual too everything you need is in it.

Re: Can not login to netgear R7000 router after factory reset
I am using defaults on router label.
I have a manual and am using it in the attempt to login and it appears that everything I need is not in it.

Re: Can not login to netgear R7000 router after factory reset
It is possible on the reset the router's IP address has changed. Default is 192.168.1.1, try entering that into the browser.

Re: Can not login to netgear R7000 router after factory reset
I enter 192.168.1.1 into the browser. And:
I get connecting and it never connects, just the dot in the rpond circle to the left of 'connecting' keeps spinning and never connects.
It appear that 192.168.1.1 is the correct address ......

Re: Can not login to netgear R7000 router after factory reset
Push the reset until power led flashes then use defaults on router label
If you read the manual you'd have known how to access it when the password doesn't work .................You reset to factory defaults...............read it again!
Nowhere in the manual does it say use serial number............Furthermore if you had reset it correctly the recovery page would had never shown as an option

Re: Can not login to netgear R7000 router after factory reset
It is waiting for INPUT, enter admin for User Name and password for Password. You should then get in.

It is waiting for INPUT, enter admin for User Name and password for Password. You should then get in.
Now I hit OK button and........
I can enter user name and password 20 times and still get the Authentication Required box and the word connecting.

Here is how the Router Password Recovery shows up!
First……
next.....click on the OK button and....
after 5 minutes of this...click the cancel button because there is no change or login....and this appears.....I have a Catch-22!

Re: Can not login to netgear R7000 router after factory reset
try clearing browser cache and or Use IE
If using genie App don't.......... Open browser using PC connected to Lan port ......Again if the reset is done correctly the Router Recovery Password would not show up, WHY?........... because the factory default settings don't include Password recovery. To me it appears the factory reset is either not being done correctly or the router FW is corrupt.
when posting a picture ...crop it so we can read it ....

Have cleared browser cache and tried using IE. Not using Genie app.
If the reset is not being done correctly then the manual is wrong.
Factory Settings
You can return the router to its factory settings. Use the end of a paper clip or a similar object
to press and hold the Reset button on the back of the router for at least seven seconds. The
router resets, and returns to the factory configuration settings shown in the following table.
Page 192….Nighthawk, AC1900 Smart WiFi Router, Model R7000, User Manual
How can the router FW be installed again without being able to log into the router?
Were is the crop button and or procedure to crop a picture on this forum?

Re: Can not login to netgear R7000 router after factory reset
Borrow a laptop from a friend and see what happens. Just to be clear the password recovery is still popping up?
Some anti virus software has blocked the sign in pop-up before and had to be deleted and reinstalled. This is the first time I've heard of the the PW recovery showing up after a Factory Default reset.
Try default once again and power cycle after default reboots...still bad contact support or try the 30 30 30 reset or use a hammer on it.
Good Luck with it!
