Connecting Orbi 6 to Nighthawk r8000
Hi Guys,
I've just installed an Orbi 6 with 1 satellite to replace my nighthawk R8000 and improve WiFi coverage, but the Orbi doesn't have enough Ethernet ports, so I want to use my Nighthawk as a switch. Can you please tell me how to do this?
And please go easy on me, I'm a novice.
PS 1. The Orbi is next to the R8000 and
2. I've turned off WiFi on the nighthawk.

Re: Connecting Orbi 6 to Nighthawk r8000
You have 2 options.
1. leave the R8000 in router mode with it connected to the modem and connect the orbi to the r8000 in access point mode.
2. Connect the orbi to the modem and then connect the r8000 to the orbi. Put the r8000 in access point mode.
with either option, you can either disable the wifi on the r8000 or leave it enabled as a backup or even to offload a few devices from the orbi. If you leave it enabled, have it on a different ssid and a different wireless channel to prevent interference.
