Connecting Work Laptop disables all other devices
When I bring my work laptop (windows 7) home and connect to the network (wired or wifi) all other devices in the house loose internet connection. when I reun a tracert I get "unable to resolve target system name" so it must be somethign that is hyjacking the DNS.
If I disconnect the computer and reboot my router, everythign comes back online.
Any help wiould be much appreicated.
Hi w1nterl0ng,
May I ask for the following information:
- What is the Internet LED status when issue occur?
- What is the IP address of the affected device and the work laptop when Internet stopped working?
- Will it disconnect right away when you connect you work laptop?

Blanca

What, exactly, goes wrong on those devices? There's more than one
way to "l[o]se internet". As usual, showing actual actions with their
actual results (error messages, LED indicators, ...) can be more helpful
than vague descriptions or interpretations.

When you "reun a tracert" of what? Actual command?

Or something else.
Copy+paste of an "ipconfig /all" report on the laptop might be
interesting. If it were configured with a bad IP address, then thatmight cause some problems.

After a few tests, reviewing the logs and ipconfig/ifconfig files. I did a factory reset and it works now.
