Re: Feedback for R7000 New firmware 1.0.9.18

Which version are you on brdoddsjr?

It would be great if Netgear communicated what a given version is expected to fix.

Re: Feedback for R7000 New firmware 1.0.9.18

Is it fixed?? Is it really fixed?? Can anyone confirm a beta version is fixing the 2.4GHz problem? It would be a great Christmas present.

Re: Feedback for R7000 New firmware 1.0.9.18

Just update and test if your problem is fixed. Mine didn't having any issues with 2.4 GHz even with 1.0.9.14. Also you can back to previous version at any time.

Re: Feedback for R7000 New firmware 1.0.9.18

I spend more than a week to try it. I tried 3 or 4 different versions. I even did 4 resets and tried the first firmware ever. Hardware reset, software reset, everything. I gave up. Even a firmware which was stable in the past is failing now. I bought a new Linksys WRT1900ACS, stable now. I flashed Advanced Tomato in my R7000 and I am done now. So maybe you can find I am one of the most frequent posters lately. I want one present, a stable R7000 with a Netgear firmware. Or whatever Advanced Tomato is perfect.

Thanks. Can anyone else confirm that .20 fixes the issue, or anyone for whom it failed?

Re: Feedback for R7000 New firmware 1.0.9.18

For me it doesn't fixed my issue with IPTV STB from version 1.0.9.18. For your case just install and try. You can go back to old stable one at any time.

Re: Feedback for R7000 New firmware 1.0.9.18

Shamarin,

I know I can install it. I need to know whether it fixes the dropping connection issue for my own reasons. Experimentation is not an option for me right now. That's why I'm asking if someone can volunteer info on that.

What's the IPTV issue? Are all 2.4 GHz connections dropping for you on the .20 firmware, or is that a different issue?

Re: Feedback for R7000 New firmware 1.0.9.18

That was a good suggestion.

I enabled device access control and authorized the devices.

I then again upgraded to 1.0.9.18 and no issue raised all devices work, even the Glaxy A3 that could not navigate internet at the first attempt.

No more drop issue with version 1.0.9.20 last two days. Max speed on 2.4G 120Mbits/s and on 5G 320Mbits/s.
I will continue to report next days about this beta release.

Thank you Ouin! Any other reports, especially of failures, are highly appreciated. I want to make a decision on replacing my router in the coming days, and cannot really test mine with the new firmware now.

Is the .20 code still beta; I'm not seeing anything that looks like a final release.

Re: Feedback for R7000 New firmware 1.0.9.18

Sorry guys, version 1.0.9.20 is not solving 2.4GHz drop. All my devices connected to 2.4GHz are disconnected and no more ping.
Netgear developer do you expect a solution next day? This situation is not acceptable!

Re: Feedback for R7000 New firmware 1.0.9.18

I'm jumping consumer ship and buying enterprise/commercial gear with separate APs and Routers. I was initially very pleased with the R7000. It seemed like a stable and cost-effective purchase. However, buying two-high-end-all-in-ones is enough to buy entry level/mid-tier enterprise gear that has better support. Bye NetGear you've lost a customer forever.

Re: Feedback for R7000 New firmware 1.0.9.18

I am having similar issues with loss of 2.4GHz. I am not running smartconnect and have seperate SSIDs with the same passwords.

About twice a day all my 2.4Ghz devices loose access to the internet. I can connect to the 5GHz via my phone and reboot the router and everything works for a few hours before I get back to the same state.

It is becoming very annoying because when I lose access my Harmony remote no longer works and it makes the wife very angry. I miss my stable firmware. I am not sure what version I was on before, but I updated via the router page and the whole thing started failing requiring a physical reboot. I upadted to 1.0.9.18 to see if it resolved the problem. Now I will have to try several older versions to get back to stable even if it means I have a security problem.

@ddurig. They have a .20 beta version. May be worth a try. If it doesnt work, you can just go backwards then.

Re: Feedback for R7000 New firmware 1.0.9.18

Thanks, I will give that a try and see. Really hoping for the stability I had.

I went 4 years without any real issues and even bypass my Google Fiber router in favor of the netgear because I have been so happy with it. I figured I should update due to Krack and that is where things went wrong. I took the web page update so figured it was stable.
