How to configure NETGEAR Nighthawk AC 4000 (R8000P) after switching to a 1GB Fiber ISP (Alta Fiber)?

I own a NETGEAR Nighthawk AC 4000 (R8000P) and it's been working fine with my initial ISP (Spectrum). I switched today to Alta Fiber (1GB Fiber). The ethernet connections are working, but the wifi connection is not working. Please note that in this setup, Alta Fiber plugs straight into my router.

 

Any help in getting my WiFi working would be greatly appreciated. Let me know if you need any additional information. Thank you

 

Also, when i connect to my router from my PC (routerlogin.net), the response time is very slow.

    Thank you for your response. I had my Internet DNS hardwired to my initial ISP. Once I changed it to "Get Automatically from ISP" it worked.

  • UPDATE: all I had to do was login to router from IP Address, go to "Internet" tab, go to Domain Name Server (DNS) Address and set it to "Get Automatically from ISP" and it started working. I had the DNS hard wired to my initial ISP servers. Hope this helps others.

    How does the Internet get to you. Fiber can mean anythiung. (Every Internet service has fibre somewhere.)

     

    Do you mean optical fibre to you? If so, does it come through an optical network termination (ONT)? Some other box?

    What does "not working" mean?

     

    No Wifi LEDS on? Wifi devices can't see SSID? Can't connect to it? Something else?

        Good.

         

        I didn't have time to suggest another strategy for those circumstances.

         

        Take the router through its Internet setup wizard. That might have delivered the same result.
