What firmware version is on the router?
Which wifi band you talk about, 2.4 or 5 GHz?

Re: I have a Nighthawk AC3200, Model 8000.
What modem/gateway is it connected to?
what firmware is on the router?
If you're using qos, access control, traffic monitoring, or parental controls disable them and reboot the router.
then retest.
What device are you testing on?
Are you connecting to the 2.4ghz or the 5ghz band? (hint, 2.4ghz is a slow band and sensitive to interference)

Re: I have a Nighthawk AC3200, Model 8000.
Thank you for responding
I have an Arris BS6183 Modem. seems to be performing ok (at rated 850mbs)
the firmware model 8000 is V1.0.4.84_10.1.84
I am using the 2.4 gh, the 5.0 is no longer available. I assume I lost it on some upgrade???
thank you again

Re: I have a Nighthawk AC3200, Model 8000.
The R8000 uses smart connect that combines the 3x bands into one.
You can try disabling that and testing each band. Maybe you're speeds were related to being on the 2.4ghz

Bad assumption. Most likely your have smart connect enabled like @plemans indicated.
Disable smart connect and make sure you have different SSID's configured so you can tell the difference between the 2.4 and 5 GHz bands on the devices you are using to connect to Wi-Fi.
• What is the difference between WiFi 6 and WiFi 7?
• Yes! WiFi 7 is backwards compatible with other Wifi devices? Learn more
