Netgear Nighthawk R8000 5GHz channel loses internet connection

When connecting to the 5GHz channel on my Nighthawk R8000 my devices will conenct to the internet for a while but the internet will suddenly stop working and the router will need to be rebooted again. This doesn't happen when connecting to the 2.4Ghz signal and even though the 5Ghz channel isn't working if I switch my device to the 2.4Ghz channel it'll continue using the internet without any issues.
I have tried using the "Smart Control" option both off and on. And I have tried a number of different channels for both 5GHz-1 and 5GHz-2.
Thanks for any help.

Re: Netgear Nighthawk R8000 5GHz channel loses internet connection
Thanks.
I do check for updates regularly on the router but there doesn't seem to be any new firmware.
I'm currently running
Firmware Version: V1.0.3.4_1.1.2
Which is the latest:

Re: Netgear Nighthawk R8000 5GHz channel loses internet connection
Yes, I think you are right. I am using an LG G4 which does have the latest android firmware on it and all the software is up to date.
I've recently noticed it doing the same thing at work as well so it's not just at home.
My wife has an iPhone which connects to 5Ghz and that's working fine.
Seems like my phone might be buggy.
