What modem are you using?
What firmware version are you on?

Wouldn't amaze me.

You might have been right.

And you might now be wrong.

That may correct the problem with the Internet indicator, but it may
still be a bad idea. Cascading multiple routers can cause multiple
problems. These include "double NAT", and complications in
communication between local devices which are on different IP subnets.

A wireless connection to the R9000-as-WAP should work as well. Or,
get the (new) LAN IP address of the R9000-as-WAP from the main router
(an "Attached Devices" or "DHCP Clients" or similar report) and use that
address.
If your "ARRIS BGW210-700 modem" is really acting as a modem+router,
not as a simple "modem", then you might have less trouble with the R9000
configured as a WAP, faulty Internet indicator or not.

As always, an actual version number would be more useful than your
opinion of what's "upgraded" today.

"bridge mode" on the R9000? Or "AP mode", or what, exactly?
