Nighthawk R7000 Problems
need some help here and i wanted to turn to the community. i've gone through the posts and it seems like this router just isn't very good, but i wanted to check to see if i'm doing anything wrong. ...

howdy.
sorry i have not responded lately because i wanted to give a little more time, but now is as good of a time as any to give an update.
to recap what i chose to do, i turned off smart connect and i turned off enable 20/40
the two options i unchecked.
Enable Smart Connect - Let the router intelligently select the best WiFi band 2.4 GHz or 5 GHz for your WiFi connections. Smart Connect requires the 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz networks to use the same WiFi network name (SSID), security options and password.
Enable 20/40 MHz Coexistence
and now what i do is depending on the situation i connect to either the 2.4ghz or 5ghz. for instance, if i'm just working like normal and i'm around my router, i just use the 5g network. but for some reason if i have to take a call and move to a farther away and to a quieter location, i just use the 2.4g network, because while the speed is less the coverage is better.
finally, i'm home working all day, so is my wife and my kids are on the internet all day. we would notice at least one drop-out per day, most of the time multiple drop-outs and sometimes needed to reboot the router.
anyhow....
stability is vastly improved. since i've made my configuration changes i think i've had two problems total. and i think one was related to a dos attack (from the logs) and the other was related to my internet actually going out. but aside from those two drop-outs, so far so good.
this was getting very frustrating for me, because like the rest of the world, i'm trying to be productive from home. it seems that not letting the router decide which network and and not enabling the 20/40 coexistence (in effect, making the router do less work) has stabilized the product some.
holding out hope that this fixes it, but will try to give another status later.

still holding steady. turning off smart connect seems to have stabilized the router quite a bit. sure, there's been one or two blips in the last couple weeks. but nothing like before.
