Nighthawk R7000P in access mode only accepts 2 devices

Question

Hi,
I have this router configured as "access mode" because I need to access devices connected to this wireless router, my firewall is providing ip addresses through firewall dhcp and 20 IPs are available.
It seems that if I connect more than 2 devices and try to connect a third one then will disconnect one of the 2 devices.
I would like to know if there is a way to fix this issue? I am running the latest firmware 7000P-V1.3.3.154_10.1.86, I don't want to configure it as router mode.

What is that "firewall"? These don't usually handle "routering".

In AP mode, the R7000P hands most things over to the router that sits between you and the Internet. What is the modem/ONT/gateway/router or whatever it is that handles the traffic?

You may have to explain how that fits into the network.

Netgear's routers are designed to sit behind a modem of some sort or, in AP mode, behind a router.

It might also make sense to ask Cisco how you are supposed to attach things to its hardware.
