No lights on the back of the router.

Hi Guys,

I recently purchessed the R8000.

All is working fine, All the lights on front are ok and all white.

It's kind of supid question I have, Probably not SO stupid.!

So...My modem has a light on the Ethernet port.(when cable is in)

The computers, 2 of them are connected to the router through ethernet, even they are shut down, there is a light on the ethernet jack.

But...in the back of my R8000 router, No lights on any cables, including the internet one from modem to router.

Is this normal?

Router has latest firmware...

And I just remembered another "funny" thing, yesterday i've changed my ethernet cable to one of the computers.

The computer was shut down then, the light on the router change from white as it was before the change, to amber, and stayed amber until i start the computer. then it turns to white, and remains white when I shut down the computer.

Obviously, Modem and router are always on! we have wireless devices, dont we??

Sorry to bother you with with this...

Luc

  • Just turn back on the PC and see what happens to the light on the router.  When you shut down PC. It is not completely turned off as you can see the light on the RJ45 connector. Nothing to worry or think about.
