R6400v2 speed issue
Equipment Netgear R6400v2 AC1750. Latest firmware V1.0.4.106_10.0.80. Issues with dorpped packets, ping speeds 40ms-800ms to local router, meetings dropped, remote desktops without function, kids complaining extremely slow gaming for wired connections. Ping speeds verified as bad with both wired and wireless. Wired connection verified with speedtest.net as 100Mbps / 15Mbps (gigabit ethernet).
Removed Netgear Router from gateway to find that ping speeds were within reasonable speeds 4-10ms and 600Mbps / 60Mbps. Reattached Netgear router verified extreme slowdowns.
Issue looks to be the updated security software. Solution found was to do the following: Advanced / Setup / WAN / Disable Port Scan and DoS Protection. Selected and rebooted.
Also found that Advanced / Setup / WAN / Respond to Ping on Internet Port. Selected and rebooted also improved remote terminals while wireless.
I did not find any reports to the following so either people are not running the part security suite or are living with this issue.

What actual modem/gateway are you connecting to?
what speeds do you pay for if the modem only is hitting 600mbps and the router only 100mbps?
Did you ever try a factory reset on the router?
during setup, make sure to leave qos, access control, parental controls, and traffic monitoring all disabled.

Arrus SB8200 Gateway.
Gigabit internet. Tested speed was 100Mbps, after disabling Netgear security systems speed increased to 600Mbps+. Speedtest.net speeds will very widely, do NOT use it for debugging internet. Use Ping and traceroute locate internet issues. Continuous pings to a nearby local router will show which internal Netgear settings cause issues.
I have used thee companies for internet access AT&T, Comcast, and WOW!. Of the three one has stood heads and sholders above, WOW!. They actually have customer service and near advertised speed.
Yes, a factory reset was completed when a software update failed. I actually needed to conduct a direct software install due to how bad the update failed. Lots of research was needed to figure out how... But that is besides the point. In my opinion it is NOT a solution for anything other than locked up part. Finally when I state security I mean ALL security QOS, Parental controls, etc.
