R6700 Slow LAN Speeds (~215 Mbps) With Firmware 1.0.2.16
Hello,
I recently upgraded my ISP speed to 600 Mbps. I'm getting very close to that speed when plugged directly into my Netgear CM600 cable modem. However, through my Netgear Nighthawk R6700 router (either cabled or WiFi), I max out at around 215 Mbps (according to Speedtest.net).
In troubleshooting, I reverted my firmware back to it's initial release of 1.0.0.2. I then got cabled speeds of about 500 Mbps through the router, and about 350 Mbps via WiFi.
This appears to be a firmware issue. My question is, does Netgear have any plans to address this in future releases of firmware?
I'm very pleased with my Netgear Nighthawk router. The range is amazing and I have recommended it to my friends.
However, as ISP speeds continue to increase, I'm not sure if I can continue with the Netgear brand unless this is addressed.
Thanks,
Gary

After the upgrade and firmware changes did you ever do a factory reset?
Make sure to do a factory reset and a clean install (not from backup).
Make sure to leave access control, qos, traffic monitoring, and parental controls disabled during the install process.
Fyi, you won't hit 600mbps over wifi with that router.

Re: R6700 Slow LAN Speeds (~215 Mbps) With Firmware 1.0.2.16
Thank you so much @plemans! I think that did it. I'm now getting about the same speeds that I got when I reverted back to the initial release of firmware, except now I'm on the latest firmware version. About 500 Mbps (564 max) through the router, and about 350 Mbps (384 max) via WiFi.
That's about what I would expect given the age of my laptop and phone. I'm very happy that I'm now breaking the 215 Mbps barrier!
Thanks again and blessings,
Gary
