R7000 Speed issues

We are experiencing a severe drop on Wi-fi speed in all areas except right next to the router...it started yesterday...any thoughts for a real novice?

I upgraded to the latest available firmware version. It is set up for both 2.4 and 5...after a long while the internet light came on and stayed. Not sure why it was off for over a day and wireless speeds way down. All is good now, but would like to understand what happened.

What is the firmware version of the router?

Is it on both 2.4Ghz or 5Ghz?
