Is stock fine for me? Or shoud I use a different firmware? My internet plan is 125mbps download 20mbps upload
I do a lot of streaming at home on my home networking. Wife streams netflix while I am usually online gaming or streaming live sports. We have 2 4k tvs so the bandwidth sometimes needed for the 4k video is higher than normal.
The total devices on our network are:
Ps4 pro,
Xbox one s,
2 65" KU6300 Samsung 4k smart tv
2 samsung s7 edges
samsung 7 series notebook
windows surface
chromecast
roku premiere+
Samsung smart tv 1080p
Obviously all of them are not in use at the same time. The xbox one S and ps4 pro are wired. Everything else is wireless.

Stock should give you the best performance. Go to third party firmware for features. These days, DD-WRT would be my last choice. Go with Tomato or Asuswrt-Merlin. Both support hardware acceleration.

Theres OpenRouter FW as well. All tailored or NetGear routers and mostly based on NG FW and UI.

Don't fix what ain't broke! But if it's broke (like mine), I went with Tomato 138 AIO from openrouter. Works better for me, not perfect, but I think I have something else going on in my setup. Just make sure you follow the directions and after each flash, do a factory reset. Good luck!
