I updated my R8000/X6 to V1.0.4.74_10.1.80 yesterday. Now when i go to many websites (e.g this one) I first i get 'site not found' then i refresh the page (F5) and it loads. I tried firefox, Chrom...

This sounds like a problem I had, Try this:
Go to into routeradmin pages go to advanced home and note the dns entries.
Go to windows control panel and click on ‘Network and sharing centre’
Click ‘change adaptor settings’. DoubleClick the ethernet/wifi adaptor and click properties,
highlight Internet protocol version 4(TCP/IPv4) click properties:
Click ‘use the following DNS server address’ and enter dns numbers in the ‘preferred dns server’ and alternative server boxes.
It seems that Netgear may have somehow screwed up the dns settings as well as removing the remote settings page.
Hope this helps

Netgear broke their DNS in the latest firmware. They need to fix it.
Manually setting DNS on clients is not a fix. Rolling back to flawed firmware is also not a fix.

Robjak, Has Netgear even acknowledged they have a DNS Problem with their latest firmware?

I agree that the solution to change adapter settings on the client is only a work-arround but at least it fixes some annoying glitches in services on my PC. Not even sure i can do this on ALL my devices....
The error I got was indeed DNS related.
The weird thing is that my browser first gives this error, then it often auto-reloads and works. Services like Teams, AWS, OneDrive, etc.. behave a bit erratic as sometimes the connection works and then it stops
Still hoping Netgear will come with a real fix of this apparent bug.
At least better to know that it was indeed a Netgear problem...

For me most of the time it did reload, but sometimes it did not. I rolled back firmware quickly, so i do not know how it would affect the clients on my network. DNS issues can be very bad for alot of apps. My wife works from home and cant have her with issues because i will not hear the end of it. And i cant troubleshoot her issues when i am not there.
For now, i am running a FW that has security flaws. I do not like this. I am not happy.

this is the same thing I just posted another topic which I'll delete but going back and forth with my wife at home having the issues.
1) Appreciate you all discussing this after that latest firmware in the subject line last month.
- sidenote and opinion... I understand things are always peaches and cream but Netgear failed briefly by taking this long and still not fixing it because....
2) .... we just downloaded the next firmware upgrade and same issue of "page not found" and then it loads up. It's not that big of a deal to me but my wife is working with Quickbooks at home for her job and it's ****'ing up something.
She has done the current client fix with the Chrome browser and Firefox but doesn't know how to mess with the router so I'll do that when I get home.
Community = A+ Thank you
Netgear = C- (Seriously people, I love my Nighthawk but let's get the customer service up to par)

Also have this error, getting DNS_PROBE_POSSIBLE after the firmware upgrade. It will reload okay but this is annoying and can make some logins fail.
I had just gone back to the V6400v2 after putting it in the corner for having other issues on a previous firmware.
Changing the DNS to use Cloudfare is a good workaround but I am waiting for a solution from NetGear.
With WFH and school kids there are 5 laptop/computers and we each use 3-4 browsers! First world problem, I know.

Hi Guys,
I am experiencing the same issue and it is very annoying especially working from home and using multiple SSO Logins forwarding pages and half of them constanlty failing.
is there any way to install an older FW? Is it offcially supported?

I had the same issue and this solution seemed to have solved it, thanks!

Thanks. I just got around to udating that R8000 firmware and then after that I started having that annoying problem. I kept having to refresh the page to get it to load. I appled the temporary fix and so far so good. I had been pulling my hair out over this so I'm glad I found a fix.

when I tried the solution it disconnected me completely, I need to go back a firmware how do I do that?
