Re: R8000 not working, amber light on for internet
ok when you have your router powered, press on the reset button with a paper clip for 30 seconds and see if that fixes it. It will be reset back to factory settings. See if that fixes it.

> Model: R8000|Nighthawk X6 AC3200 Smart WIFI Router
Connected to what? (Hint: If a device has different types of ports,
then "connected to device" is not enough detail.)

> router has orange amber light for internet [...]
What, exactly, is your (unspecified) "the modem"? Presumably, if you
have multiple "wired PC's running off" it, then it's more than a simple
"modem".
> [...] cant connect with routerlogin.net... [...]
Note: "cant" is a word, different from "can't".
"can't" is not a useful problem description. It does not say what
you did. It does not say what happened when you did it. As usual,
showing actual actions (commands) with their actual results (error
messages, LED indicators, ...) can be more helpful than vague
descriptions or interpretations.
A clear description of what _does_ happen would be more useful
than a vague description of what does _not_ happen.
> [...] no wifi... [...]
Not a very detailed description of anything. See "not a useful
problem description [...]", above.
> [...] what do we do?
You might start with an oft-neglected resource:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/RTFM
Visit http://netgear.com/support , put in your model number, and look
for Documentation. Get the User Manual (at least). Read. Look for the
LED descriptions and "Troubleshoot". Pay particular attention to the
"WiFi On/Off button with LED". Did you press it? Further reading might
not hurt, either.
In particular, if your "the modem" is actually a modem+router, then
you might also look for "Use the Router as a Wireless Access Point".
