R8000P - Can't add a DHCP reservation for any MAC (Invalid MAC!)
Router R8000P,
Firmware: V1.4.4.94_1.3.56
OS: Win 11 pro / Win 10 pro
Web browser: Firefox
State of router: After firmware reset/ with or without Armor enabled (no difference).
Tested for: LAN: 192.168.1.100..200
Tested for: LAN: 192.168.2.100..200
------------
I can't assign an IP to any device (using DHCP). Router report: "Invalid MAC!" (??). When will be a new official firmware for R8000P?
UPDATE: There is BETA FW available that fixes this for the R7960P and R8000P model routers.
FYI, the beta fixes the IP address reservation issue.

- rickert33AspirantI am having the same issue. What's the big secret for solving it?

I got the same issue, what is the resolution?

Ditto to the rest of the messages. I merely tried to change the NAME (not the MAC) and got "Invalid MAC" when it went to apply (ie I didn't even try and change the MAC in the existing entry). (same f/w as everyone else: V1.4.4.94_1.3.56)
Given this bug has been reported for at least 6 months now, it would be helpful to know when or if a fix is forthcoming.
Regards.

Hi, I had this issue last year and I'm back here again with the same issue again. If the containment is to downgrade to a previous version of FW, which is the "latest working version"? Seems to be a frustratingly long time to wait for an official fix to this well reported issue.
R8000P on V1.4.4.94_1.3.56
- naughtyowlAspirantI went back 1 version and was able to do the IP reservation without the invalid MAC error.
Did you not try the beta I sent you?

I have the same issue. What's the solution?

There is a beta that fixes this if you want it.

As of 7/21/2023, the latest firmware is still 1.4.4.94, which I experience this same problem with on my new R8000P. Installing 1.4.3.88 did the trick for me. It seems to be the latest stable release that I can reserve IP addresses on.

where does one find this beta release?

I had the same issue with the latest firmware V1.4.4.94_1.3.56. Downgraded to version V1.4.3.88_1.3.50 and can reserve the MAC addresses again. The firmware bug may be something to do with the colons in the MAC address field. When I rolled the firmware back, I noticed the colons in the MAC address disappear just after I hit the Add button and before the screen goes away. In the current version, I typed the MAC address with and without the colons and got the invalid MAC error either way. A good programer should be able to fix that firmware bug in a few minutes.
At least I only wasted one night and rebooted the router only a few times before coming across this thread. Netgear chat support was no help since the router was purchased from an Amazon seller that wasn't an authorized dealer. I did get a call back from paid support after I found this link and told them specifically what the issue is. Let's see if it gets fixed in the next release.
There is a beta FW that already fixes this that includes the security enhancements.

Thanks.
- I am sure FURRYe38 can send us the link đ

Netgear Nighthawk R8000P / FW Version 1.4.4.94_1.3.56
When attempting to establish a static IP for a Frameo picture frame, I get an "Invalid MAC Address" error. I try changing the last octet to .84 (which is an open and free IP on my router) when getting the error. I have selected other open IPs with no luck. I even attempted to set a static IP for the one the router assigns, I get the same thing. Picture of the error (MAC blanked out) with the FW version is attached.
The software for the Frameo is updated to the most current version. Over to you guys. Thanks.

I apologize for not participating in the discussion, but I've bought a different router and the one this thread is about is sitting on a shelf. I didn't have the energy or time to wait for a solution. I will definitely not buy any more products from this company.
Take care, best regards.

Did you not get the beta that fixed this?

I don't think there is a beta release due to the lack of someone actually posting a link to it. Netgear really needs to post a new firmware release that actually corrects the issue. They are well aware of this issue and have chosen to ignore it for now.
