I too am experiencing wifi dropping and having to reboot and re-enter all the wifi information. Bought this wifi router in Sept. 2020 and it was fine. But now it continually needs to be rebooted and setup. I've tried 19 times to update the firmware automatically and manually with no luck! Presently using firmware version 1.4.1.50 the new firmware version it's recommending that will not update automatically or manually is 1.4.3.88_1.3.50. From all the chat boards I've read this is a known Netgear problem for the R8000P and I don't see them having a solution. Everything seems to be handled behind the scenes. I'm ready to toss it and get a TP or ASUS.
How are you trying to update the router. Recommend updating the routers FW using the manual method using a wired PC and web browser connected to the routers web page as detailed here:
