R9000 is rebooting several times a day without any known reason

Hi all,

I do have a problem with my R9000 which is rebooting several times a day without known to me reason.

Checking the log, I can see only the information from the moment it started up then following up the regular info.

Hardware Version R9000

Firmware Version V1.0.5.24

GUI Language Version V1.0.0.400

Operation Mode Router

Here is the log:
x10Log.jpg

Can you help me to find out what could be the reason of such strange behavior, please?

Kind regards

/me

Have you tried downgrading the firmware a version? maybe the one you're on has a bug/issue

Re: R9000 is rebooting several times a day without any known reason

try doing a reinstall of the firmware. do it over a hardwired connection. Afterwards, factory reset the router and do a clean reinstall (not from backup).

I'd also leave your chromecast off for a period. See how stable the router is after that.

Hi @plemans,

I have followed your advice I after the reset and reload of the firmware I notice about twice less reboots then previously - but it still restarting without any known to me reason.

Seems, it is for change,

Thanks

Re: R9000 is rebooting several times a day without any known reason

Hi @plemans ,

Thanks! I have downgraded to V1.0.5.18, and now for 13h31m it is up and running.

Hope this is the solution!

Many thanks one more time.

Kind regards,

/me

Re: R9000 is rebooting several times a day without any known reason

Sorry @plemans ,

I had to take away the earlier given Kudos. The router restarted again just a few minutes ago.

So this problem is not solved yet.

Any other ideas? ...please 🙂

Kind regards

Re: R9000 is rebooting several times a day without any known reason

Take away kudo's? like i'm not helping?

A couple things you can try.

1. check your power supply. They're tough to check because if they fail, its usually underload and its tough to check them under load. If you have a matching power supply, (same voltage, at least the same amperage, and same polarity) you can swap them out to see if the power supply is whats failing.

2. Failing that, try disabling bandsteering/smart connect and spread out your devices between the 2 bands a bit.

3. Disable 60hz broadcast. Nothing uses it anyway. Disable it.

Re: R9000 is rebooting several times a day without any known reason

You helping?

You are just pushing me to do something. How is this helpful? 😃 No result, …OK, it is restarting less often than a couple days before, … OK, …. You got your kudos back + one extra. 😉

I do not have a backup power supply.

Ad network kept off already, as all other features like QoS, …all “smart” features are off.

I gave up on it already and ordered new routers with MESH 😐

Thanks @plemans for your efforts.

Kind regards,

Re: R9000 is rebooting several times a day without any known reason

I know you've given up and ordered a new one.

How long has it been rebooting?

The only other version of the firmware I'd try would be to drop down to 1.0.5.2.

I know you said you left AD off, QoS off, but also make sure access control, parental controls, and traffic monitoring are turned off.

Worth a shot.

You could also try connecting it to your mesh system in AP mode and seeing if it stays working
