Using C7000v2 as router for mesh network

I currently have a C7000v2 cable modem WiFi router and it’s been working great. However, recently it’s been inconsistent with WiFi strength around the house. So, I’m think of upgrading to a mesh network. Is there a way to do this and still use my C7000v2 with a mesh system or do I need to get a new router with the system? Is there a way to use my C7000v2 as just a router?

  • There's 2 types of mesh systems.

system 1: adding mesh extenders to your system. its a solid system but if you're needing more than 1 extender, I'd recommend system 2.

system 2: full mesh system like orbi. I'd recommend the triband versions. the reason these tend to be faster and more stable is because of the dedicated backhaul connection and the fact that a router controls it.

whether you can use your c7000 depends on which system you choose. You can add mesh extenders to the c7000. Or you can go with an orbi system. You could still use the C7000 either as a modem or as a router (with orbi in ap mode) but it won't integrate with the mesh system.

  • Is the C7000v2 router compatible with the

You can add a Mesh system to the c7000v2 but it would be suggested to set the C7000v2 to modem only mode.
