Re: What is the difference between AIO and VPN Fresh Tomato firmware versions?

I'm considering changing from the Netgear firmware (because the one that is the "latest greatest" (not) for the R7000 Nighthawk is junk) to Fresh Tomato. I noticed when downloading the different firmware versions of Fresh Tomato that there is an "AIO" and a "VPN" version. What is the difference and does it matter that much? Thanks.

By the way this forum is not the place to ask questions like this. This question and anything else should be on the appropriate forum. This forum is Netgear only questions/issues.

Who made you King of the Forum?
I'd expect to get/find more/better information about alternate
firmware for a Netgear router from the folks who distribute the
alternate firmware, but the title of the forum is "Nighthawk WiFi
Routers", not "Nighthawk WiFi Routers Running Netgear Firmware Only --
All Others Keep Out!". Or did I miss something?
Or are you just upset by any thread where you can't justify posting
yet another complaint about Netgear firmware? (As if you needed any
valid justification.)

Get some breath. Have installed and run Tomato on more then one router. This is not the forum for tomato issues. Think it over and get your head out of your as$ before answering these.

At least I have experience running Tomato which I doubt you have had.

True. I wasn't really thinking about it when I posted the question and actually probably just got lucky that someone here knew the answer to that question. While I can say I'm about as concerned about Netgear's forum as they are about my firmware problems, I will "try" in the future to direct future questions to the specific forum, such as the Fresh Tomato forum. Thanks for your assistance and knowledge, @myersw.

If you want support for Fresh Tomato, this is the right place to visit: https://www.linksysinfo.org/index.php?forums/tomato-firmware.33/
AIO = All In One, the complete firmware. VPN is a stripped down one meant mostly for VPN stuff
