Why is QOS assigning a Low Priority to Speakers/Media Players?

I have AirPlay Speakers set up around the house and bizzarly NightHawk is assigning these with a LOW QOS setting?

The speakers keep dropping out despite an 87% Signal Strength at 54Mbps another one with a 99% Signal Strength at 54Mbs both on 2.4Ghz

The 5GHz is not much better - The Lounge Speaker (which is line of sight of the NightHawk 20ft across the room is reporting 100% signal strength at 150Mbps.

And yet stutter stall throughout the house.

These devices worked better on the old wifi but were subject to the wifi occasionally just dropping for all devices hence the 'upgrade'.

I would set the speakers to a higher priority if they showed up in the Attached Devices, which despite connecting to the Nighthawk and streaming albeit stuttering audo are attached to the Nighthawk.

Is it just that I have a bad Nighthawk or are they all this bad?

  • well QoS is something strange when I put low on a device it can suck all my bandwidth, I complained a lot with that stuff!

Back to your business you should update your FW, then you can see what happen.

you did config advanced setup / Admin/ Connected devices/Edit attached device and assign priority and did nothing, there is nothing more you can do until they redesign the QoS feature.

    Complain more!
