Re: XR500
Any recent changes to your router (updated firmware, changes in settings, etc?)
Are you able to connect to the router while the internet light is amber? If so, you should be able to download the latest firmware available from Netgear's website and update and/or rollback if you've recently update before the issue. Edit to clarify: You can connect your PC to your modem to download the firmware update then connect to your router to manually update the firmware.
Have you attempted to replace the ethernet cabling/verify the existing cabling is functioning properly? It's rare, but they do break as well.
As a last resort if you can reset the router back to factory settings. If this step fails, I believe the hardware itself has failed and it's time for replacement.

I’m having issues connecting to the internet on my router. My modem is connected to the internet and I’ve got my computer connected to it and getting connection. The Internet light on the router stays amber though. I have the XR500 connected to the SB8200 with Cox. I’ve tried power cycling and AP mode.
First, have you taken the network through the recommended reboot cycle?
Be sure to restart your network in this sequence:
- Turn off and unplug modem.
- Turn off router and computers.
- Plug in and turn on modem. Wait 2 minutes for it to connect.
- Turn on the router and wait 2 minutes for it to connect.
- Turn on computers and rest of network.
The XR500 is a gaming router. You might get more help, and find earlier questions and answers specific to your device, in the appropriate section for your hardware. That's probably here:
Nighthawk Pro Gaming Routers - NETGEAR Communities
Gaming routers have their own DumaOS operating system that is nothing like the one on Netgear's standard routers.
In the meantime you could visit the support pages:
Support | NETGEAR
Feed in your model number and check the documentation for your hardware. Look at the label on the device for the model number.
You may have done this already. I can't tell from your message.
I mention it because Netgear stopped supplying printed manuals and CD versions some years ago and people sometimes miss the downloads.
