Xfinity Gigabit modem works fine but Netgear 6700v3 keeps dropping WiFi

I originally had the last generation Xfinity modem but then bought a Netgear modem (to avoid the monthly lease fee and to match the Netgear router). I went to the new Xfinity Gigabit modem a few weeks ago but router WiFi drops continue unfortunately. Every couple days, connections to WiFi drop and router restart is needed. It's extremely annoying.

Any ideas on fix?

(Also, yes, I've also done the firmware update and ensured Netgear Armor is off too.)

Which Netgear modem dd you buy?

I'm confused, what is the Xfinity Gigabit modem? Is this instead of the Netgear modem?

What modem are you actually using?

What happens when you see this? What do the LEDs on the router show? What tells you that the wifi has dropped?

What firmware version do you have on the device?

A number is more useful than "the latest". There may be newer versions, or "hot fixes", that do not show up if you check for new firmware in the browser interface.

Netgear modem is Nighthawk CM1200. It replaced the old XB6 Xfinity modem. I replaced the Nighthawk CM1200 with newest Xfinity modem that has WiFi 6 and Gigabit speed. That said, drops continued... via wifi connections to the 6700v3 router. No issue with new Xfinity WiFi 6 and Gigabit speed modem though... wired AND WiFi to Xfinity modem is fine.

The only way I notice 6700v3 go down is from our security cameras being tied to it. They go offline every couple days... due to the router WiFi connection dropping. Prior to the unplug router and plug back in to re-connect, the lights all look normal as though still working.

How do you know that it isn't the camera that is losing the connection?

It is a fairly common for IoT things to disconnect so you'd need to check that other things also lose the wifi.

Do the router's logs show anything?

The CM1200 won't be getting in the way.

But if you are using a modem with "WiFi 6 and Gigabit speed", then your modem is also a router and you are piling router in router.

Bad idea. That could easily screw up the wifi from time to time and reboot would be needed.
