The Netgear Nighthawk X8 R8500 router was uinstalled and all the devices were added using a new SSID and Password. The tech forgot or didn't take the time to do a firmware update. If I do a firmware update now, will I have to reinstall the devices after the router reboots after installing the upgrade?

Hello @summit
Welcome to the community!
We normally recommend a factory reset after firmware upgrade. This is just to ensure that everything is back on its default settings and nothing can cause possible problems.
Now, doing a reset will require you to reinstall the settings on the unit just like when you first had it.
For reinstallation, you may see this link.
