r8000 update firmware via usb

my power light stays on and is solid amber.  I can't access the router via pc/web interface.  Can i somehow update the firmware via the USB ports on the back of the router to try resurrecting it?  If so, how can that be done?

Need to press the reset button for 30 seconds then release, then it send to PUT the command and upload the FW.
