AX12 RAX120 Random Wifi disconnects

Hello All,

This router has been a pain in the but, support has been lacking and slow...  All my wireless devices will stop pinging my local network intermittently.  Wired connections work just fine never stopa.  I have 24 devices on my network and about half of them are wireless and range in the distance from the router.  It does not matter if it is Wi-Fi 6 or not or 2.5 vs 6 ghz they all stop at once for a few pings. This issue will happen up to three times a day, some days, I will have none, but that is very rare.   I will say that doing a factory reset made the issue go from all the time to just every now and then.

Hardware Version - RAX120
Firmware Version - V1.2.1.22
GUI Language Version - V1.0.0.413
Operation Mode - Router
CPU Load - 4.20792%
Memory Usage(Used/Total) - 433MB/869MB
Flash Usage(Used/Total) - 233MB/512MB

My local gateway 192.168.10.1

For example, when a full drop of all devices (All SSIDs go away) Leff frequently (Wi-Fi only LAN never drops)

Support Q&A
1. Just to make sure that we are on the same page, your internet is stable on wired devices but wireless devices get disconnected from the network, right?
    A. Correct. The wired connection will have zero issues during this time.
2. Was your wireless connection working fine before? If any changes are made before the issue please indicate.
     A. Its been like this since the day it was installed. I even bought a new Wi-Fi card for my main PC that has Wi-Fi 6 to validate it was the router.
3. Does the Wi-Fi name disappear when an issue occurs?
     A. I have had multiple issues. One of them is when all devices will drop my wireless network at once and the network name goes away very briefly. The other is when it looks to be online but you get unable to join during the issue.
4. How frequent is the disconnection?
     A. A few times a day, depending on usage. I have noticed if I have load on the network aka Zoom meeting and RDP, to work, it will drop more often.
5. Does this issue occurs on 2.4GHz or 5GHz or on both wireless bands?
     A. Yes, it occurs on 2.4GHz and 5GHz at the same time. I have my laptop that is 2.4GHz and my PC doing a ping to the gateway 192.168.10.1 non-stop and they will both drop at the same time no matter the distance from the router. My iPhone will drop too during the events
6. Kindly indicate the model and brand of the affected devices.
     A. All Wi-Fi devices in my house, but I will list a few.

Each support call back they have me change one or two items and wait days for another callback to be asked the same questions again.

Troubleshooting completed so far

  • Factory rest router
  • Firmware update
  •  QoS disabled
  • Traffic meter is off
  • Netgear Armor is off
  • Yesterday’s awesome “fix” was to update my DNS servers to Google 8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4
    • Guess what... DNS does not fix wireless drops "shock face"  Still broken

Re: AX12 RAX120 Random Wifi disconnects

Hey 76Sorty,

Can you stay connected to your local network or is yours just a issue with the internet?  Also does your wired connection have the same issue?

Re: AX12 RAX120 Random Wifi disconnects

i lose connection to my network. i connected directly to my modem (cm2000) with no problems(stable). i connect from my modem to the router and it seems every couple of minutes my network disconnects (wired and wireless)
