NETGEAR Nighthawk - Protection Engine Feature FAQ
From the NG Chat box on there support page: What does Protection Engine do?
"The Protection Engine in NETGEAR Armor provides security features like Anomaly Detection, Brute Force Protection, Exploit Prevention, DoS and DDoS Protection, and Sensitive Data Protection. It helps safeguard your home network by monitoring abnormal behavior, preventing hacking attempts, protecting against exploits, blocking DoS and DDoS attacks, and securing sensitive data transmissions."

3. Not all routers may have this feature. For those model NG routers that support Protection Engine, and has a feature configuration on the routers web page, can be disabled or enabled for troubleshooting reasons if issues are seen, navigate to Advanced Tab/Security/Protection Engine. There will be a check box to enable or disable Protection Engine. If users are noticing bad internet behaviors or web page not loading or seeing web page errors or DNS errors in browsers, disable Protection Engine and check to see if these problems are resolved.
