Netgear AX5300 Ethernet Ports capped at 100 Mbps

Hi all,

Yesterday we purchased a new Netgear router (AX5300) and all 4 ethernet ports are capped at 100mbps, which is far slower than my wifi speeds of 350mbps a second. All cables have been tested and all work correctly, nothing is broken. QoS is off as well. I feel like there is a setting I need to enable/disable but I cannot find it. I have spent hours working on this, watching lots of videos, reading posts like these, and nothing has helped. This has been incredibly frustrating, as my ethernet is slower than WIFI.

I can find no mention of that in the Netgear system.

If you mean AC5300, that is not a reliable guide to model number. Many devices come with an AC tag, but it is essentially a label that Netgear, and other brands, attach to hardware to describe wifi speeds.

Look at the label on the device for the model number.

What firmware version do you have on the device?

A number is more useful than "the latest". (It may not be by the time people read this.) There can also be newer versions, or "hot fixes", that do not show up if you check for new firmware in the browser interface.

It might also help if you told people what the modem is in front of this router, if there is one. The make and model number could be useful. Is it, by any chance, also a router, with a set of LAN ports on the back?

The reason for asking is that a lot of people turn up here trying to put a router behind a modem that is also a router. That can complicate troubleshooting.

Sorry I was going by the Best Buy listing,

The model is RAX49S-100NAS, firmware is V1.1.3.18_2.1.14.

I am unsure about the modem, it's in an odd place so it's hard to get to. I'm not sure if that's the issue, as I'm getting almost 400mbs through wifi, but ethernet is capped at 100mbps. I do know that it doesn't have any LAN ports, only 2 connections for a phone line. It's a modem supplied through Charter Spectrum.

Unfortunately, wifi speeds are hard to interpret.

What tells you that thee LAN ports are delivering 100 Mbps?

        What colour do they show?
