Highly anticipated fix, did the manual update this morning ( no factory reset yet to see what happens) so far everything seems to be working as expected

Just curious, do you see a Thermal Fan option on the routers debug page by chance?

just checked, I do not see the thermal fan option in the debug page. the fan turn on the whole time the router was doing the firmware update but haven't turn on again so far, the router runs pretty warm for my liking.

Re: New - RAX80/RAX200 Firmware Version 1.0.10.140 Released

Ok, ya, was wondering about that as well. I got a loaner RAX200 in and seems to run warmer that I like as well.

I guess there is a fan option on the 120 series. Not sure why they didn't add that for the 200 and 500 series. These models really need some extra cooling. Other posted hidden links but I could never seen them on the 200. I presume there just not there on these models.

I would recommend this, get you a laptop fan cooler under the router anyways. Helps keep it cool 24/7. Helps save the electronics and doesn't hurt to have one. Been using extra cooling under any router I use since 2012:

https://www.amazon.com/Thermaltake-Massive-Adjustable-Notebook-CL-N004-PL20BL/dp/B00IGSATZY/ref=sr_1...

I use thins one currently.

Any laptop cooler will work though.

I got some left over 120mm pc fans i could use, but if it is like amd processors the more cooling I do with it the more performance it push to maintain the temp. The fan turns on if lets say Im gaming on the pc and others are streaming. Mine is in a well ventilated gaming room

Ok so the internal fan is turning on on it's own?

Re: New - RAX80/RAX200 Firmware Version 1.0.10.140 Released

Having just download and upgraded my RAX80 from v1.0.6.138, which left me without VPN to RAX80-V1.0.10.140 all seems well. The update was painless no factory resets, just browse to the file upload - update - restart done. DNS working and VPN working 2 hours after update.

This shows that Netgear can do good updates when they put the effort in, the router is working as it should.

Re: New - RAX80/RAX200 Firmware Version 1.0.10.140 Released

Ok, so far the onboard fan only turns on after a reboot which I had to do the last 3 mornings in a row. So finally did a factory reset and reconfigured everything from scratch again and now my phone could not stay connected to the 2.4 ghz band, had to turn of ofdma for the 2.4 band and the mu-mimo and it stay connected the other band was fine.

Re: New - RAX80/RAX200 Firmware Version 1.0.10.140 Released

Thanks for the update. So I guess OFDMA and MIMO are effecting some phones when connected. Does the phone keep connected if MIMO is enabled only?

I recommend getting a laptop cooler under the router for added cooling:

https://www.amazon.com/Thermaltake-Massive-Adjustable-Notebook-CL-N004-PL20BL/dp/B00IGSATZY/ref=sr_1...

Any laptop cooler can work.

Be sure to save off a back up configuration to file for safe keeping. Saves time if a reset is needed.

Re: New - RAX80/RAX200 Firmware Version 1.0.10.140 Released

Since I updated the RAX200 to 10.0.10.14 the router keeps hanging Evey few days and becomes not responsive. That means not responding to nighthawk app and/or to its IP address.
Only workaround if power off/on the router using the physical back button.
I did factory reset also for nothing...

Re: New - RAX80/RAX200 Firmware Version 1.0.10.140 Released

What is the Mfr and model# of the Internet Service Providers modem/ONT the NG router is connected too?

Be sure your using a good quality LAN cable between the modem and router. CAT6 is recommended.

Does the router feel extra warm or hot on top when this happens?

Has a power off for 1 minute then back ON with the ISP modem and router been performed since last update?

Be sure to restart your network in this sequence:

Turn off and unplug modem.

Turn off router and computers.

Plug in and turn on modem. Wait 2 minutes for it to connect.

Turn on the router and wait 2 minutes for it to connect.

Turn on computers and rest of network.

Re: New - RAX80/RAX200 Firmware Version 1.0.10.140 Released

Hello,

1) What is the Mfr and model# of the Internet Service Providers modem/ONT the NG router is connected too?

AX7501-B0 Firmware Version: V5.15(ABWW.2)C0

2) Be sure your using a good quality LAN cable between the modem and router. CAT6 is recommended.

I have a very good quality CAT6 cable (Its shielded, etc...)

3) Does the router feel extra warm or hot on top when this happens?

Hm... I am not sure. I think its often warm on the top. I can't say if it was "that warm". I know the airflow intake is from below, its not blocked either.

4) Has a power off for 1 minute then back ON with the ISP modem and router been performed since last update?

Hm, I certainly rebooted both devices, not in the exact order you described,

I will try to follow the following instructions.

Be sure to restart your network in this sequence:

Turn off and unplug modem.

Turn off router and computers.

Plug in and turn on modem. Wait 2 minutes for it to connect.

Turn on the router and wait 2 minutes for it to connect.

Turn on computers and rest of network.

PS: I forget if I said that but before update to 10.0.10.140 I did not have that particular issue.

PS2: I'm in the hospital, more often than home. My wife reported me a few additional blocking, I also witnessed a few on my last outings.

Re: New - RAX80/RAX200 Firmware Version 1.0.10.140 Released

Your ISP service device seems to have wifi and built in router already:

https://service-provider.zyxel.com/apac/en/products/fiber-oltsonts/10g-active-fiber/hgus/ax7501-b-se...

if this is correct...If so, This would be a double NAT (two router) condition which isn't recommended. This would be a double NAT condition which isn't recommended. https://kb.netgear.com/30186/What-is-Double-NAT
https://kb.netgear.com/30187/How-to-fix-issues-with-Double-NAT
Couple of options,
1. Configure the modem for transparent bridge or modem only mode. Then use the NG router in router mode. You'll need to contact the ISP for help and information in regards to the modem being bridged correctly.
2. If you can't bridge the modem, disable ALL wifi radios on the modem, configure the modems DMZ/ExposedHost or IP Pass-Through for the IP address the NG router gets from the modem. https://kb.netgear.com/25891/DMZ-on-NETGEAR-routers
https://kb.netgear.com/24086/How-do-I-set-up-a-default-DMZ-server-on-my-Nighthawk-router
3. Or disable all wifi radios on the modem and connect the NG router to the modem, LAN to LAN configure AP mode on the NG router.
https://kb.netgear.com/24104/How-do-I-change-my-Nighthawk-router-to-AP-mode-after-I-ve-already-run-s...

I would try option #2...

Re: New - RAX80/RAX200 Firmware Version 1.0.10.140 Released

Hi,

1) In Switzerland most ISP are not letting us bridge the ISP device. I checked if there weren't some adavanced hidden page to do that but there aren't any.

It's a 10G PON fiber line.

2) All modem/router from ISP wifi radio are off, and I only have 1 DHCP server on that network.

I haven't set the RAX200 in the DMZ though, it's a good idea.

3) I saw the AP mode but then I though it's a shame to not use that expensive RAX200 beside for wifi and RJ45 cat6...

I actually discussed at lenght my LAN there:

https://www.snbforums.com/threads/rax200-dns-configuration-guidance-needed.75985/

Note: it's a bit old, I managed to make it work since then...

Have to go, doctors coming.

Thanks for help

Re: New - RAX80/RAX200 Firmware Version 1.0.10.140 Released

Since I have updated to this firmware, everytime I am logging to web interface, I have updating settings for a few minutes. In the mean time, the router is cutting all devices connections until the updating settings is finished.

Any workaround/tips to prevent the updating settings upon log in?

What Firmware version is currently loaded?
What is the Mfr and model# of the Internet Service Providers modem/ONT the NG router is connected too?

Has a power off for 1 minute then back ON with the ISP modem and router been performed since last update?

Turn on computers and rest of network.

Has a factory reset and setup from scratch been performed since last FW update? A complete pull of the power adapters for a period of time after the factory reset then walk thru the setup wizard and setup from scratch. Recommend setting the default DHCP IP address pool range to the following after applying and a factory reset: 192.168.#.100 to 192.168.#.200.
