New TCL Google TV will not connect to internet thru my AX5-RAX43 WiFi Router

I just purchased a TCL 65" Google TV from Best Buy. After trying to connect the TV to my WiFi and failing,  I reached out to TCL Support. I confirmed with TCL Support that my WiFi signal strength was good, my SID was correct, and password was correct. After attempting to connect the TV to my WiFi 7 times, the TV returned error message each time "No internet connection". The TCL Support Tech advised that I should try to connect the TV by setting up a Hotspot on my Phone. After doing that the TV connected to the internet immediately. Since I could connect the TV to the internet using my Hotspot, but not thru the WiFi Router, I need to determine if the problem is the settings on my router or is the problem with the ISP. All other devices I have in my home connect to the internet thru my router just fine.

I would appreciate any help or ideas what to check.

Thanks!

Thank you for your response.

There is no ISP provided Modem.

My Netgear Nighthawk AX5 is connected by a CAT5 cable coming from the outlet in the wall that the ISP installed.

The AX5 WiFi router is not a cable router,

There is no Coaxial cable connector on the back of the WiFi router.

Re: New TCL Google TV will not connect to internet thru my AX5-RAX43 WiFi Router

Connecting a TV to the network is usually best done through the TV's controls and set up routine. The router rarely does much more than spit out the wifi signal. It is then down to the TV to do its thing.

Where possible, it is usually easier to use a wired connection from the router to the TV. It is easier to set up and less likely to fall over. If you can't run Ethernet cables around the place, you could look into Powerline Ethernet. It turns your mains wiring into an Ethernet circuit.

The source of the Internet is probably less important than the brand of the TV. Same are easier to set up than others. You could try a search around here of your TV.

For example:

Search - NETGEAR Communities – Samsung TV

And:

Search - NETGEAR Communities – "Google TV"

Just another user with time on their hands.

Are you using mixed mode wpa2/wpa3 for security?

Try setting it to just wpa2.

You could also just setup the guest network to wpa2 only mode.

FYI, the RAX43, isn't isn't a wifi 7 device.

Re: New TCL Google TV will not connect to internet thru my AX5-RAX43 WiFi Router

I disconnected my AX5-RAX43 WiFi router and connected the original Frontier 5040 Router provided from my ISP. The Google TV connected right up.

I will need to investigate what settings are different between the AX5-RAX43 and the Frontier 5040 routers to determine why the Google TV would not connect the the AX5-RAX43.

Thanks for your suggestions.
