Nighthawk AX6 AX5400 6-Stream WiFi Router(RAX50v2)

My internet provider is a AT&T hotspot router which I just had to replace to their newer model but when I tried to connect my NETGEAR router back to it I can't get it to work.  On my AT&T routers admin page it shows that my NETGEAR router is connected via ethernet but when I go to my NETGEAR app it shows the wifi router is disconnected and I can't get it to reconnect.

  • Piling router after router creates a double NAT situation with two networks that can't talk to each others. If you can't set the ISP router in Bridge mode, set your NG one in Access Point mode. You should only have one router in your network doing the routing.

Reason why I had a second router was to extend my wifi in my house and it worked for the previous router from at&t.  I'll give your suggestion a shot. Thanks

That is a classic case where the second router should be in AP mode, as microchip8 suggests.

As this behaviour started when you replaced the original modem/router, you should check a few things.

        • If the original modem/router was in bridge (modem only) mode, then you need to do the same thing with the new modem/router
        • You should then restart the network in the expected order – modem followed by secondary router – so that the secondary router picks up its cue from the modem/router
        • If the original modem/router was in modem/router mode, then the second router should be in AP mode. Again you need to restart things in the expected order.

The  bottom line is that each device should be in a mode that is compatible with the other one and they need to start as expected.
