Nighthawk AX6
Ok so I'm pretty much a beginner trying to understand how mesh systems work. So here's where I'm at and would love some help with. So currently I have the Netgear Nighthawk AX6 which I believe the actual model number is RAX45-100NAS. I have cameras on the outside of my home and the signal is great for the most part. There are times when it intermittently disconnects or drops the signal. I would like to (I'm not sure the terminology) increase or boost the wifi signal to lessen the disconnects. I was told the MR 60 or MR80 would be a good option for me as the Orbi is the high end system which obviously costs a lot more. So my question is, (an here's the part I don't understand) is this mesh system Replacing my RAX45-100NAS or is it an extension from it? Any help would be appreciated.

Look at the label on the thing for the model number.

How do they connect to the network? Direct wifi? Some sort of hub wired to the router? (That's how the Arlo system works.)
Does the wifi die for all devices on the network? Or do the cameras lose the connection?
So my question is, (an here's the part I don't understand) is this mesh system Replacing my RAX45-100NAS or is it an extension from it?The RAX router is just one device that fills the area with wifi. A Mesh system is a combination of router and satellites that can cover a wider are with a wifi network that keeps track of the wifi clients and seamlessly handles the switchover as they move between the sources.
If your cameras use the wifi, they probably aren't moving around and don't need a Mesh network. They just need a signal that is strong enough to keep them connected.
If the problem is that your RAX does not cover the area with a strong enough signal, then you can add extenders to fill the gaps and spread the wifi, or you can get a Mesh system.
If the RAX fills all your other needs, and the issue is just the cameras. then filling the gaps might be a cheaper response. After you have worked out if the signal really is the issue, and not some other problem.
