Nighthawk R7000P Internet Interruptions
Guys,
I have a Nighthawk R7000P router that is approximately 3 years old. The firmware is V1.3.1.64 and the ISP last year converted to fiber optics with the associated modem and UPS system. When I run Speakeasy (and others) it is reliably in the 90-100 Mbps. range.
For the past six months I have noticed problems with Chrome not loading a web page, which I chalked up to Chrome or problems with my ancient Windows laptop. Later I started noticing that I was having similar problems and buffering with my Android phone and Fire TV (all on the 2.4 GHz side). Then, over the Thanksgiving weekend, my kids mentioned that they were having connection problems with their Apple phones. Rebooting the system seems to offer some temporary help.
I have read about doing a router reset, but this will be a lengthy process because this is on a farm with many connections. Any ideas would be appreciated, maybe the router has just reached the end of its life?

Unless you've setup a lot of custom address reservations, a reset doesn't take much time. So long as you're using the same ssid/password, devices should just auto-reconnect.
What modem/gateway is the router connected to?
Do you have IPv6 enabled?
What is the Mfr and model# of the Internet Service Providers modem/ONT the NG router is connected too?
Try a factory reset and setup from scratch.
Try different browsers.
Netgear has set up a community forum specifically for the NightHawk Router products. Most of the people who watch that forum are more likely to have experience with NH router products and know how to work it better than those of us who follow this router forum. Might be more likely to find someone who has a solution if the question is posted there:
