Yep. Delay delay delay until you can’t return it. I think our only remedy is a class action against this **bleep** company who doesn’t give a **bleep** about their customers. I am going to drop all of my Netgear stuff including older switches that work fine. Can’t support a garbage company who has no answers in 6 months. Bet they release new products and the. Will stop supporting this junk.

Nov 18, 2019For what it's worth, disabling Smart Connect, MU-MIMO, AX Wifi, and Implicit Beamforming, while also manually selecting channels seems to have solved a lot of the Wifi problems for me... for now. Fingers crossed it keeps up but my hopes aren't super high.
It's pretty disappointing that I have to disable basically everything that I paid so much extra for on this router just to get it to function somewhat properly.

A pattern that I think I've noticed is that the router in general works and doesn't lock up while it's in continuous use. I think maybe it has gone out several times in the four months I've owned it while I was actively using it. The time it seems locked up is when I'm not actively using internet (although I assume any device I have powered on in the house is using it in the background). The times I notice it locked up are when I go to browse via my phone; watch Playstation Vue; or go to play a game. Based on the logfiles I now think the router has an issue with sleep, power savings, or like a deep-sleep mode. It takes a nap and can't wake up essentially. I think that accounts for 95% of the lockups.
So, what I've found is that turning on debug logging seemed to make the router more stable. Having worked in embedded systems programming this isn't an unusual effect as it changes the timing characteristics of the processes.
I'll say that while it is working I don't have an issue with it, I'm not sure it is any faster or has more capacity than my old router but I have not tried any type of multi-device throughput test with it.

Mines been having another moment tonight, everything is dropping connection & my phone refuses to connect to it with the message "avoiding poor internet connection".
I've been trying to collect logs to add to my support case & probably 50% of the time you click "save log file" it returns a file of 350kb which contains no log data.
I'm 20 days into my level 2 support case and so far I've not been asked to do anything except upload log files.
No feedback that there's a problem, no feedback that I should change some settings & try again, not even something like "your old devices are not compatible with the AX standard" as an explaination...- robledrewNov 21, 2019Apprentice
Yes! Same situation here. Small log files, no feedback on logs provided, no meaningful feedback or replies at all!
I even got a new router sent to me, which was appreciated, but exhibits the same issues. My 5ghz channels no randomly appear and disappear.
Software such as inSSIDer confirms that either one or the other 5ghz SSID is not even broadcasting.
I've tried all sorts of combinations of settings except for turning SmartConnect off. That is one feature I'd rather not deal with because it is one if not the only major selling point of a tri-band router in my mind.
The new firmware that pushed out a few days ago doesn't seem to provide any "stability improvements".

Disabling AX and Smart Connect has cleared the wifi dropout problems for now and my family is off my back now while I configure the new sonicwall to replace it.- NeerajShJun 26, 2020AspirantI had the same kind of issues on my router. However, my router is working fine now from more than last 2 months. I had upgraded it with the latest firmware and after that there is no connection drops. But there is a catch, I identified that the 5G connection was dropping all the time when I was using my Lenovo laptop having AX Wi-Fi capability. Whenever I was working on that or the laptop is running by itself from the sleep mode to the wake up, the 5G connection of the entire home were lost. Therefore I did more r&d and came to know that something is wrong in the recipient hardware as well no matter laptop or what. I upgraded the Wi-Fi driver of that laptop and the combination of that upgraded driver and RAX 80 firmware, everything is working well. I got some of my confidence back on this router now.
