Hi I have a orbi RBR850 plus one RBS850 and I am trying to extend to my outdoor patio. I just got a EX7500 which stated it was compatible however I do not see the 5ghz network extending, it doesn't offer the same channels as the Orbi so I am wondering if that is why. The 2ghz network seems to work fine from what I can tell. Is there a better option other than ordering another RBS850?

the EX7500 is a triband extenders. Meaning one of the 5ghz band will use the lower channels and one the higher channels. So you should still be able to set it up fine. Just use the installation assistant.
It is also a mesh extender so it might just be how you're scanning the wifi to see it. If the onewifi name is enable, a standard wireless scanner will only pickup one ssid.

Re: Extender EX7500 RBR850
What channels are you using one the RBR?
The EX7500 should work and connect with 5Ghz.
Try channels 1 and 40 on the RBR and see if the EX will connect. I know I tried mine once before and it connected. I didn't get a chance to test it for a long period of time.
Make sure the FW on the EX is up to date.

Re: Extender EX7500 RBR850
I dont have those channels on my RBR850, I have the higher channels over 149 only. I also have a EAX15 and that seems to work okay but doesn't handle that many devices.

Re: Extender EX7500 RBR850
Orbi AX systems including the 850 only allow for the lower 5Ghz channels that users can change. So 36,40,44 and 48 can be seen on the RBR. All higher channels are hidden and used by the Orbi's wifi backhaul system between the RBR and RBS only. Users can not change these channels.

Re: Extender EX7500 RBR850
Sorry thats what I meant I only have the lower channels on the RBR and higher channels on the EX7500. I am going to return it and probably just get another RBS850 was just hoping there was something cheaper I could do to extend it since it is such a small portion of coverage.

Re: Extender EX7500 RBR850
If you set the EX up in extender mode the EX will auto tune to those channels being used on the RBR.

Re: Extender EX7500 RBR850
Glad it worked out. Be sure to save off a back up configuration to file for safe keeping. Saves time if a reset is needed.

Re: Extender EX7500 RBR850
the 8 series satellite will have quite a bit better performance than the EX7500 but is a little bit more spendy.
Worth it in the long run 😉
