It seems I'm not the only one unable to factory reset one of my RBS850

Hi everyone,

This is my first post on this forum.

It seems I'm not the only one unable to factory reset one of my RBS850. It keeps booting up to a blue light but appears not connected on both the web interface and the Orbi mobile app.

I tried removing it, re-adding it after a factory reset many times.

I, of course, also tried resetting my router and both satellites I own.

My other satellite is working fine. I'm only having this issue with my 2nd satellite.

One very weird thing I noticed is that this non associated satellite, which shows up as "out of sync", seems to be somewhat connected to the router as its ethernet ports are working (if I plug in a computer via ethernet, the computer connects to the Ethernet (I made sure WiFi connectivity on this computer was off)).

If I check the list of attached devices, this computer shows up as connected to my other satellite (once again WiFi is off on this computer, so the only way it can connect is via the Ethernet cable plugged into the "non associated" satellite).

This is one very odd behavior and I'm wondering if anyone else has the same issue.

Best,

  • Is FW on the 2nd RBS save version level as the RBR?

What Firmware version is currently loaded?

What happens when you connect the 2nd RBS to the RBR using a ethernet cable and give 5 minutes? Do this in same room with the RBR. Turn OFF other RBS.

How long are you pressing the reset button for on the RBS? 15 seconds then release is recommended.

Might try using the GENERATE button, Under Advanced Tab/Advanced Settings/Wireless Settings to generate a new back haul password for the RBS after you reset the RBS, then once a new one is generated, use the RBRs Add Satellite function to see if you can fully resync the 2nd RBS to the RBR. Do this in same room with the RBR. Turn OFF other RBS.

If this fails, last resort would be to perform a 30-30-30 reset process on the RBS. This should fully clear out and reset the RBS. Do this in same room with the RBR.

      Hi,

      Thank you for your suggestions.

The firmware of the RBR and the working RBS is V7.2.6.21.

I’m unable to check the firmware of the faulty RBS.

I’ve tried multiple times the 30-30-30 reset but to no avail.

I’m gonna try to generate a new backhaul password.

It still is mind boggling to me that this non associated not connected RBS can provide internet access through Ethernet…

      Thanks again for your help!
