Orbi CBR750 Won’t Connect to Internet

ORBI CBR750 will not connect to the internet. Validated connection and signal to port, and cable is new and validated. Modem router will go through connection protocol and become stuck out outbound signal connection verification, WiFi network will broadcast with no connection to internet. Power cycled, rebooted, and factory reset modem (twice) and that was the end of the advisement from tech support. Ticket is open as defective hardware but I have received no further communication. It has been confirmed that this is a hardware failure, but is there anyone with similar occurrence or further advisement? Networking educated software engineer looking for help! Or is my unit fried and I have no backup from Netgear?

  • do you have a screensnip of the cable connections page and event logs?

Start with removing any amplifiers, signal attenuators, or splitters from the coax.
From there check the line for kinks, damage, moisture in the line.
Check the connectors for improperly made ends, foil touching the copper coax line, loose connections, bad/old/cheap connectors, or corroded connections. Replace them if you do.
If you can, simply connect the modem right where the coax comes into the home. This prevents wiring in the home from being the issue. And some ISP’s charge if the wiring issue is in the home. So this helps prevent this.

This is not a cable, ISP, or signal issue, IT IS A HARDWARE DEFECT. The modem router itself is the malfunction. And unfortunately because I didn’t pay for an extended warranty Netgear is leaving me in the cold. I am now out $600+ for buying a modem router that didn’t even last 2 years. Lesson learned is don’t but Netgear junk because they don’t care about their customers. Unless they pay them to subscribe to care.

So, since your unit seems to be out of warranty, the intended use of the community forums is for other users to offer help users out with problems seen. There are some questions and suggestions that we need details and feedback ON to give us a better idea of the situation at hand. Other wise if you don't give us feedback, it defeats the purpose of this forum and getting you help so we can maybe get your unit working again.

It would be in your best interest and I recommend that you please give feedback to the questions presented by plemans so we can check on this information. There are lots of items and factors that can lead to bad behavior seen on modems and these Orbi systems. So it may not just be a hardware failure. Giving some feedback can help us check on this and see if there are items that could be leading up to a bad unit or the unit behaving badly. Any thing can happen and it's possible this could be a simple issue as well.

I also have this model CBR model. Aside from a known WIFI issue, works pretty good for me.

Again, we are here to help you out as much as we can and our intent to to help resolve issues so you can get your product working again. Especially for users that have no warranty coverage. This is free support for users. You should be taking full advantage of this.
