Orbi RBR350 wired connections and internet constantly dying

Since the last 2-3 weeks my Orbi RBR350 keeps going down. Purple light off and on, Virgin Media tests showing all is fine.

Reboot of Virgin Hub 3 then Orbi solves it. But my wired satellite doesn't always work. Wrong addresses issued to devices that have fixed IP and ethernet connnections (but not wifi) not showing up as connected despite reboot of ethernet hubs.

Sometimes I can't connect to 192.168.1.1 or the Orbi app on wifi.

Driving me mad, any suggestions? I've checked cables, hubs, reset hubs and devices multiple times.

Firmware V4.4.0.10_2.10.63

  • Your ISP Modem already has a built in router and wifi. This would be a double NAT (two router) condition which isn't recommended. https://kb.netgear.com/30186/What-is-Double-NAT

    Couple of options,
    1. Configure the modem for transparent bridge or modem only mode. Then use the Orbi router in router mode. You'll need to contact the ISP for help and information in regards to the modem being bridged correctly.
    2. If you can't bridge the modem, disable ALL wifi radios on the modem, configure the modems DMZ/ExposedHost or IP Pass-Through for the IP address the Orbi router gets from the modem. Then you can use the Orbi router in Router mode.
    3. Or disable all wifi radios on the modem and connect the Orbi router to the modem, configure AP mode on the Orbi router. https://kb.netgear.com/31218/How-do-I-configure-my-Orbi-router-to-act-as-an-access-point and https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H7LOcJ8GdDo&app=desktop

    Try option #2 first.

Has a factory reset and setup from scratch been performed since last FW update?

Thanks, the Virgin hub has been in modem only mode since I got the Orbi so there shouldn't be a double NAT condition as it's not assigning IPs or has wifi etc. I had made no changes to anything before the problem (no settings or hardware changes) so am hoping it's a firmware issue.

I've performed a factory reset on the Orbi and crossing my fingers that it fixes things...
